Welcome back to Tasting Tuesday! This week, we’ve got our mittens wrapped around Winter Warmer from The Brew Kettle—an 8.2% ABV spiced ale that screams “holiday season.”

The Brew Kettle, a Northeast Ohio staple since 1995, is known not only for its lineup of quality craft beers but also for giving locals a chance to brew their own. With six locations to visit, it’s the perfect place to sip, brew, and celebrate craft beer.

The Beer: Winter Warmer

  • Pours: A fantastic pale amber that’s crystal clear with light tan lacing that doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’s a beautiful beer, especially when it catches the holiday lights.
  • Nose: Think dark honey, roasted malts, and festive zesty citrus. The addition of lemon peel here stands out, giving it a slightly brighter edge.
  • Flavor: Sweet malt, baking spices (cinnamon, ginger), dark honey, and a warming citrus zing from orange and lemon zest. It’s flavorful but stops just shy of extraordinary, especially in a state like Ohio, where winter warmers flow like snowflakes.
  • Mouthfeel: Slick, syrupy, and medium-bodied. It coats the palate in a way that reminds you this is a true winter sipper.

Winter Warmer is a solid choice for a cozy night in, pairing well with a roaring fire, ugly sweaters, and your favorite holiday tunes. It’s rich, sweet, and just spiced enough to remind you it’s winter without hitting you over the head with cinnamon.
