Let’s get one thing out of the way: this beer sounds like it should be served with a fancy spoon and a sprig of mint. But don’t let the name fool you—Clear Sky Lavender Lemon Sorbet is absolutely beer. Cream ale, to be exact. And a surprisingly crushable one at that.

This week’s Tasting Tuesday comes from Wolf’s Ridge Brewing out of Columbus, OH—a brewery known as much for its award-winning dining as its inventive beers. And this one? It’s dessert, spa day, and summer beer all rolled into one.

The Beer: Clear Sky Lavender Lemon Sorbet

  • Style: Cream Ale

  • ABV: 5.2%

  • IBU: 10

  • Additions: Lemon, butterfly pea flower, vanilla, lavender

This is part of Wolf’s Ridge’s rotating Clear Sky cream ale series, which also includes ridiculously fun-sounding flavors like Coconut Cream Pie, Strawberry Basil, and Cinnamon Toast Brunch—aka the beer world’s dessert cart.

This version is conditioned with lavender and lemon and pours with a delicate golden hue (thanks, butterfly pea flower), soft carbonation, and a nose that basically says “calm the hell down and drink this in a garden.”

Tasting Notes:

  • Look: Pale, slightly hazy yellow with a soft glow. Like someone carbonated an Instagram filter.

  • Smell: If fresh flow and lemon zest had a mildly floral baby—yeah, that.

  • Taste:

    • A light malt base with corn and wheat backbone

    • Bright, citrusy lemon that isn’t sour—just clean

    • Subtle lavender and vanilla on the finish (think herbaceous, not perfume aisle)

  • Feel: Light-bodied and crisp. Perfect for anyone needing a hop vacation.

About the Brewery: Wolf’s Ridge Brewing

Founded in 2013 by Alan and Bob Szuter, this Columbus-based family brewery set out to be more than just another taproom—and they nailed it. With roots in homebrewing and fine dining, Wolf’s Ridge combines thoughtful beer with destination-worthy food, making it one of Ohio’s premier drink-and-dine spots.

Their Clear Sky series has become a canvas for flavor exploration, and this Lavender Lemon Sorbet version might be the most whimsical of the bunch. It’s fun, it’s floral, and somehow it still drinks like beer.

Final Verdict:

✅ Great for lager drinkers looking to branch out
✅ Surprisingly chill despite its name
✅ Best served on a patio, ideally while ignoring your inbox

If you’re looking for a break from hop overload or want something unique to pair with summer vibes (or actual dessert), Clear Sky Lavender Lemon Sorbet is worth the pour.
